"In the practice of Yoga one can emphasize the body, the mind or the self and hence the effort can never be fruitless"
Sri T. Krishnamacharya
Each of us has certainly heard of Yoga. Perhaps you have already tried it and appreciated the effects of Yoga for the body and the mind. It is true that there are more and more people who practice Yoga all over the world.
But what is the secret of this great success? And how does yoga differ from conventional physical exercises?
An ancient practice, Yoga is known for its physical exercises and its health benefits. Work on the body allows you to relax, strengthen and harmonize the osteoarticular system as well as balance the autonomic nervous system.
This makes it possible to manage chronic disorders such as joint problems (stiffness, osteoarthritis, tendonitis) and postural problems (scoliosis, hyperlordosis, hyperkyphosis). Likewise, Yoga includes several other techniques, such as pranayama (breath control), meditation and visualization, which act on the psycho-emotional level in order to manage psychological disorders (stress, anxiety, depression).
Thus, Yoga is a unique practice that combines three key elements: movement, breathing and awareness. During Yoga sessions, these three components are used even if the teaching styles differ according to the students (age, physical and mental ability, or other particular conditions).
Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is a dynamic style of yoga that includes the synchronization of breath with movement. The flow of postures (asanas) constitutes a sequence that is built in a precise order. The technique of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is widely appreciated because of its many health benefits for practitioners.
Standing postures or sitting exercises on a chair are adapted to a large and diverse audience (people with disabilities, the elderly, with special needs, etc.) in order to provide benefits for their physical and mental health. Dynamic movements aim to increase bone density, strengthen muscles, improve blood and lymphatic circulation, aid digestion and transit. Balance postures are important for the prevention of falls and injuries. Movements related to breathing, meditation and visualization are used to improve sleep, better manage chronic pain and reduce stress.
Restorative Yoga is a gentle therapeutic approach that serves to restore physical and mental balance. This style is particularly recommended for dealing with chronic fatigue caused by the pace of life, illness or prolonged medical treatment. This practice, which helps to repair and regenerate all body systems, is also an effective response to stress.
Comfortable postures, are held for a long time using different types of props (bolsters, blankets, eye pillows, blocks, etc.), help restore optimal functioning of the nervous system, improve health and promote well-being.
Yin Yoga is a slow and meditative practice that works deeply on connective tissues, enhancing flexibility and circulation. Postures are held for an extended time, promoting relaxation and body awareness. Ideal for rebalancing the body and mind, it helps combat stress and fosters inner peace. Perfect for those seeking a rejuvenating pause amidst the turmoil of daily life.
This practice invites participants to release tension at the end of the week using sophrology techniques and to explore, through conscious movement inspired by free dance, a connection between breath and movement.
Each session is focused around a specific intention aligned with the season and incorporates various tools (seated and standing meditation, meditative walking, dynamic sophrology, free dance, etc.).
The sessions are adapted to the needs of Kids and Teens and developed according to the ages of the participants. Students learn several postures in the form of a game, allowing them to experience body and breath awareness, to develop attention and concentration, and to learn social skills. Children can be accompanied by their parents in order to facilitate a good mood and experience the joy of practicing together.
